anyone who scoped out your ride would cut that chain in a heart beat, than you just gave them a handle to help them carry that shit lol
Im not sure if all theifs carry around a bog enough tool to cet through 2+ metal chains without being seen doing it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

By the way, how likely is it to hit the gas tank by bolting a box down? If the tank is under the trunk and you used small screws, would you have enough clearance?

you have to be able to access both sides of the metal to bolt it down

youre just talking about screwing it down, and yeah, i wouldnt do that because if you dont know wha tyou might hit, neither do we.

I was thinking of going up into the rear deck. I know its not the strongest, but at the very ends it should be strong enough. I dont know whats under the trunk so i dont want to learn the hard way. Its a 91 deville if anyonw knows:) . I suppose Ill just chain it for now.

I was thinking the same thing... Theives are pretty much smash and grab, but if they can't get it, they'll destroy it. Atleast I'll know in my mind that they don't have my stuff. I have multiple layers of security that I haven't disclosed ontop of the chains.

To answer your question, I don't think small screws would really effect the gas tank because there is a thin layer of sheet metal inbetween. A majority of modern gas tanks are made of plastic so it won't blow up or anything, but it's something you DONT want to do.

Haha. Modern as in 91:D

my gf's car has a sliding problem too. i was going to add some l brackets to it, only to find out that right under her carpet was metal. so i ended up using insurtial strength velcro and its all gravy now.

I take it it worked well? Its a good idea if you have no where to screw into with brackets. I just want the velcro to stop the box from sliding and the chains will stop it from flying around if I ever get in a crash. And theyre antitheft mechanisms;)
