I've been reading up on these forums for quite some time, and decided it's time to start posting. I'll be building a box pretty soon for my new Alpine Type-S subwoofer, and thought that a thread giving advice to first-time builders, or even seasoned pros, would be helpful. Any general comments/help would be good.

use titebond II wood glue before putting screws

I prefer coarse thread drywall screws.

Also I suggest calculate the box good, if ported be exact. write everything down and draw out on a piece of paper what each cut will be or you might find yourself 1/4" short on a cut.

dont use terminal cups, just drill a hole big enough for the speaker wire to pass through, tigh a knot on the inside of the box and seal it up.

you can also use 100% silicone sealant for the edges to make sure there is no air leaks. also it would be better to pre-drill your holes.

x2. Also called frame clamps or right-angle clamps. GREAT for making sure the joint is at 90 degrees.

and if you do not have a table saw, use a long 2x4 wood and place it on top of the mdf for a straight clean cut. To hold it to place, you use 2 2" C Clamps to hold the 2x4 in place.
