Day 1

Started my project today.

I decided to do a little bit at a time rather than go balls out and do it all at once. Today I treated each of my doors with Second Skin Damplifier Pro.

Only the inner skin of the doors though (the inside sheet metal behind the speaker). I dropped 16 sq feet in each door. This was roughly 3 layers total.

One the passengers door, I used about 1/3 gallon of SecondSkin Spectrum, the sprayable version, and use a paint brush to glob it on. The driver side will get the same amount, but I will spray it, rather than paint it with a brush. I am doing it both ways to show how the product can be applied. Ran out of time so I will have to spray the doors tomorrow.

The outer skins will ech get about 1/3 of a gallon of Spectrum.

Once I do that I am going to line the entire cavity of the doors with 1 layer of SS overkill, then a layer of Rattle Pad to absorb the echoes for the RE XXX comps. an extra layer of 2 inch open celled acoustical grade foam will go directly behind the speakers in to absorb the rear wave.

The outer skin will get a solid layer of Damplifier Pro on the back side, then the front will get sprayed down with 2 mm of Spectrum followed buy a layer or Spectrum Sludge. The area around the speaker will get a solid a layer of Damplifier Pro around all that.

I still have to treat the plastic door shells (upholstery) with a layer of Regular Damplifier and rattle Pad. This will take some time since each door has tons of contours.

Once it is all done each door will have about:

24 sq feet of Damplifier Pro

8 sq feet of Regular Damplifier

16 sq feet Overkill

14 sq feet Rattle Pad

2/3 gallon Spectrum Sprayable

1/3 gallon Spectrum Sludge

2 sq feet open celled acoustic foam.

Total hours today: 3

Total projected hours to complete doors. 6 per door, 12 total hours

Pics to come

On the passengers door, I used about 1/3 gallon of SecondSkin Spectrum, the sprayable version, and use a paint brush to glob it on. Starts out blue, but dries dark dark grey, almost black.

The driver side will get the same amount. later. The inner skins will get few coats too, but I will spray it, rather than paint it with a brush. I am doing it both ways to show how the product can be applied.

Day 2

(couple days ago) I installed Second Skin Overkill in to the passengers door. Did about 2 layers every where. I also loaded up the drivers door with specturm. I decided to glob it on, just like the pass door.

Day 3

Today I sprayed the outter skins of the door down with Spectrum. Got about 1mm on each door so far. I am going to go back and do each door again to get the total up to 2mm

for the next few days the doors will remain off to let the Spectrum cure, and the smell go away. Once it is cured there is not smell at all, even if you stick your nose right up to it. takes about 48 hours to be good.

Next will be a layer of Damplifier Pro over the holes in the door. I will sandwich a layer of Overkill between 2 layers of Damplifier to cover all the holes. this will be a real cool project.. very awesome tweek that works very well.

Total Time: 1.5 hours per door
