The second I thought to myself "where the heck is my second skin..." the doorbell rings and the postman runs away quickly as he hears the dogs barking. I quickly scurried to the door to see what awaits and I see a little *** package. I picked it up and knew right away! w00t! So I opened it up and I thought..wow this is a lot! I recieved 50 sq ft of Second Skin Extreme (DampX) (Thanx ANT). I waited untill Feb 1st and 2nd to install it due to weather conditions (I live in Wisconsin). Ok ok ok I know you peple are saying "shut your pie-hole and get to the goodies" so here I go.

It took me about 4 minutes to try and find what way to open the box with using a sharp steak knife. I tried everywhere but couldnt seem to find out..so i just stuck the knife in and pulled and ripped and finally it comes open. To my suprise it doesnt smell at all compared to other damplifing products I have seen. I waited a few days for the weekend and for the weather to warm up a tat and all that.
Saturday strolls around and I decide to start at about 1:00pm. After taking about 30 minutes to strip my car down, I start to clean the metal with paint thinner to clean it up and stuff just as the instructions say. After its all prepped and everything I pull the 1st small roll out of the box to start. (you can refer to http://members.sounddomain.com/mattj on page 2 to follow along with the story.) The tools I grabbed were 2 razor blades, a hair dryer (to warm up the material) and a wooden flat stick to cut the damplifier straight.
Ok on to ease of application ...
I was surprised on how easy it is to install this to the contours of your vehicle. You simply peel back the desired length/section that is going down....heat it up..and lay it down. The backing is a yellowish-clear peice of plastic that you just simply peel back. Very simple to do this, and if you have never done it, like me, its self explanitory unless you are a retard. When you heat it up properly...it gets VERY sticky so watch out what you touch with it. For ease of use, I give it 9/10
Next on the list is quality of product ...
DampX is put togeather very well. It is lightweight and nice and flexible to move pretty much every which way (to a point). VERY simple to get the wavy parts of your vehicle as long as you arent in a big hurry. For the quallity of the product I give it 10/10
As I mentioned before there is hardly any odor
I took it out and was really surprised that there was only a faint smell. Evereything else Ive seen smells like freshly laid blacktop on a hot summers day..but nope...not second skin. And who wants their vehicle smelling like that...or even have to smell it for hours on end when you install it? SURELY not me. For odor I give it 9/10
Now to how it sounds on the inside of the vehicle with performance gain
I noticed a substantial increase in music quality and loudness after the install. I wish I would of gotten metered to show you people the actual difference but I didnt think about it untill right now. Doh!! For the combining 2, id say I would give it a 7/10
Last but not least is dampening the rattles
Well seeing how I have a Chevy Beretta and the whole back end is plastic as some of you may know...i didnt expect much gain here. I was proved wrong. It did not stop ALL of my rattles but it did muffle it down. At this point I only have 1 layer on the top of my trunk lid and I would like to add more and add a 2nd layer and possibly a 3rd so I will touch up on this at a later date when I do so. Seeing how I did have a decrease in rattles but it did not stop, ill have to give it a 7/10
There are videos of BEFORE and AFTER on my SoundDomain page and the whole installation proccess of second skin. it is located at http://members.sounddomain.com/mattj
Coming on to the final rating
All in all this product did VERY well. I am really happy with how it turned out and how it has effected my vehicles problem areas. ANT has a very nice product and I suggest that any of you looking for sound deadning material, to go for his. For an overall score Id have to say 8.5/10
On another note...id like to thank ANT (ifandorbuts) for giving me the opportuinity to test his product. I am very pleased. If any of yopu have questions or anything you can hit me up on AIM or e-mail me or whatever. Dont forget to check out the sound domain page and look at the install and download the videos.
