SEAS tweets Pioneer crossover?

I would somewhat i agree as the seas tweets (and just like any other diy speaker) is better running active but honestly, does it hurt to try? i mean if you end up not liking them you can resell them and not lose much money at all. i would understand if the tweets you are thinking of getting are like $2-300 but these would cost you $70 shipped and at most you'll lose like $20 or something.
That is exactly my view on the situation. But I would be losing the money spent on the component set and the tweets because I really don't want to use just the one good pioneer tweeter.

the off-axis of these tweets is exceptional not excellent. if you like an exaggerated top end then these tweets aren't for but for the most part, these tweets play well off axis. I have these tweets in my kicks, cross firing and i'm perfectly happy with how they play.
This is good for me. Mids will be stock location and tweets will be in bezel around door handle.

Cool. Thanks. I think I'll give them a try too.

I think you'll do fine with them. Really the only benefits of a active system are that you can independently control power, crossover points and slopes, and time alignment if you have it to your personal liking. Particularly beneficial when you're mixing and matching different speakers.

If you are using a passive crossover who's crossover and slope is within acceptable capabilities of the tweeter I would expect it to work ok. Only thing I can think of is the possible problem of different output between the stock and new tweeter. Those pioneer crossovers have a 0db and a -3db setting for the tweeter right?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Still an active setup noob over here.

I don't have them yet but I just looked them up on google and saw a picture of their crossover. It looks like it has +3db 0db -3db. I'm sure with enough tweaking of my headunit (Alpine 9830) and switching between crossover settings, I should be good to go.

Its has been a hassle....believe me. I previously had the pg rsd's in my truck (don't know if I mentioned that yet). On sunday afternoon I temporarily hooked up one of the Seas to the PG crossover and I absolutely loved how it sounded. So after about two songs I decided to mount it in my door perminantly so it would cut down on the time installing the pioneer mids when they came in. And when I went to take the connectors off the terminal of the tweeters it ripped the + terminal right off! I was so ****ing pissed. So I had to order another tweeter. On a positive note the Pioneer set came in Monday. I finished sealing off my doors, added ensolite, and put everything in and they sound wonderful. The mids are great, and the tweeters sound wonderful. I know they're not playing to their potential but I'm not going to be running active until next summer when I get my new vehicle. But long story short....they sound great. Now I'm having trouble mounting the tweeter on the driver's side so that will be my project after work today.

haha yeah, another mental note- make sure you have something to calm you down when you get frustrated (i.e. a beer, cigarette, punching bag, or whatever it takes to relax) because I have terrible patience and installing car audio gets the best of me. Horrible temper FTL!
