I have dial up and don't feel like waiting like 5 mins per search. I remember there was a thread on here about people talking about rasict speech and how people make it a big deal. I have to write a 3 page paper on it due tommrow morning and need some material. I'm beat from work and wanna get this over with so I can go get some sleep. If you guys could help me out or give me some ideas. Thanks.

Hang the flag anyways. And if they persist, Hang it on the inside of your car against a window, or get some rebel flag window shades.

I think it probably has to do with the fact that so many people associate that flag with the enslavement of African Americans and the racial tension that continues to exist today.

true but sad. im not from the south but not everyone displays the flag with racist intent. ive got several very good friends from the army who happen to be black and they love the rebel flag because it is a part of southern history not just asscociated being a racist symbol.

Yes, but I think that most people like that ultimately understand that it is genuinely offensive to a lot of people and it sends a message that they do not intend to convey. As a result, they refrain from publicly displaying the flag.

i agree. while i was in the army i was stationed down at ft polk, louisiana. because of complaints about flags, bumper stickers, etc.... our commander told anyone who had them they had to come out or they would face UCMJ for displaying racist items. including a very good friends from SC who was black. he refused to take the rebel flag out of his truck and in turn he was given restriction to post and extra duty for 15 days.

hell if a black man who is proud of the south wants to fly the flag why shouldnt he be able to along with anyone else.

on another note the symbol that is most commonly used with Black Panthers the fist. there were a lot of those on windows of cars etc.... i dont take offense to them its a part of history that shows pride for blacks. point is they were not told to remove them. i know there were plenty of people who didnt like seeing them especially when they were told you cant fly your flag.

I do not expect you to understand. You are a pimply face high school kid with a very low IQ. You personally acknowledged that you associate the flag with race when you whined about Black History Month in the same breath as mentioning it.

I disagree. I think that it is useful to point out what type of people hold those beliefs. For example, anyone who sees the type of toothless tash that comprises the Klan today simply has to be inclined to disregard their views as ignorant. It's the same with this kid whose most signicant goal for the future is to put duct tape on his truck.
