I have a 10w7 in a ported box and i was wondering how much bass will I lose if i turn the sub around facing inside the cabin and seal off the trunk? I want a quiter ride and i want the car not to rattle as much so im bout to put sound deadner in my car and rick recommeded I seal off the trunk? he said It would be better for my wishes. So what do you guys think? This is in a 98 civic thanks

I would say go for it but usually you get more bass when your sub is toward's the back of your trunk but i guess it all depends to on the enclosure that the sub is in.

I run mine firing into the cabin, but haven't sealed them off. I used black speaker grill cloth to cover the opening, so it's stealth. Couldn't get your link to work.

What are you going to use to seal it? I'm building new boxes this weekend and am considering trying to seal them up this time....

oh really he did a good job!! Its inspired me.. it would be cool to put some computer fans behind the amps to keep them cool.. I Wanna do something like that but with grey vinyl so when you put the seats down all the interior matches.. Im no profesional so i find that kind of a cool project

actually it will sound great as long as you seal it off from the trunk. i did this with 2 eclipse aluminum 12's in a prelude for a friend and it got loud as hell and sounded great. first i tried it without sealing it off and the output was horrible....then i sealed it off by making a baffle to fit the opening behind the seat and fit it to the enclosure then sealed it. it sounded awesome. hope this help's. by the way this was the old aluminum's

yes it will get better when fully sealed...problem is.....when it isnt sealed air escapes into the rear and is then trapped thus causing a loss in db's. when sealed no air can escape into the rear which means an increase in air pressure in the cabin giving a fuller and more detailed sound. not to mention less panel flex because the trunk is no longer in use and that is where the panel's cause the most sound loss from flexing. imo and i dont have pic's sorry
