i hear alot of people just spurting out that type r's sound terrible sealed. i'll bet that not a single one of those people have even heard a type r sealed. i've built several boxes for mine and my conclusion is: 1 type R ported = loud. 2 type R's ported = really loud. after 4 tries to get 1 ported R louder than 2 sealed R's....I = fail!!!! 2 sealed was louder every time.

I have two sealed and there more than loud enough for me.
they're fine sealed. if i had the room, i would port the 2 i have, but i don't. 2 sealed will still bounce a cell phone off the roof, which is the cool thing nowadays i hear.

actually your wrong. people do know. i have built 3 box's i believe that were for a type R 12'' sealed. compared to ported they sound like ***. terrible frequency response and output. box's were 1 ft^3 and 1.3 ft^3.

What size ported box were your type R's in? I had a single type R, it was in 2.75 tuned to 37 with 42" of port, powered by hifonics 1206d @ 1 ohm. VERY loud for 1 12, lots of flex.
