Sealed trunk positioning question.

likely that rear facing as close to the rear of the car will be the loudest but lest convenient.

facing forward will be the most convenient for storage in the trunk but unless you seal it off facing forward it'll have losses.

the rear 6x9's will distort from the pressure of the subs - and should be enclosed to protect them.

Thanks appreciate the helpful advice and stuff. I don't use the trunk for anything so not worried about that. I have heard about 6x9's havin issues but it is what it is that would cost to much to seal off for me. The Kappa's seem to be fairing a lot better than the SoundStream SST6.9's though both have held up surprisingly well to the old system. The new systems a lot more ummph though so we'll see how that goes. A little different having a trunk not as easy to change the configurations as open vehicles like SUV :

Yeah seems to be best for most applications. Luckily only rattle I have is a tad middle of the lid close to the window. The Kolosus should take care of that the Alero's are notorious for rattle lol.

LOL the sates go down in the alero no sh*t Sherlock lol...My 6x9's sound good enough for me atm keep on target please.
Just in case you ever want to protect them http://www.amazon.com/XTC-x9-Foam-Baffle-Pair/dp/B0002ZPNY6

try forward fire, rear fire, box closer to left side/right side top fire, corner fire. Its the easiest thing to do to gain free output play around with all.

Love everything about this quote. I tried every possible orientation in my Impala until I found what sounded the best to me. Kept at it until I found the best combination of sound quality and output that suited me. Currently in the process of doing the same in my new vehicle

i also experiment with box locations, the new car sounded best like this:

but i tried other typical variations and each had merits and downsides.

if you fire forward, sealing it off 100% is key. i'm going back to IB like in my old Accord
