Sealed Downfire or Ported Downfire

Hey guys,

I apologize before hand if this issue has been addressed but I think I could spend two days reading through the searched results for downfiring boxes.

I have a 08 GMC crew cab. The only option I have seen is downfire boxes for under the rear seat.

Would it be worth my time to build a custom box to out perform a pre-made box?

Also I don't really have much experience with downfire boxes as I have always had a car until now. I have heard sealed boxes and ported boxes in the same setup and have always perfered the sound of ported boxes. So my question is can you port a downfire box?

The reason I ask this is all of the pre-made boxes are sealed. Has anyone ever heard a ported downfire?

I am trying to decided between two 8's or two 10's. I know I'll have more space for the ported 8's. Considering either the RE 8's or IDQ 10's
