Anyone heard this sub sealed? I still want it to be a decently loud, but I also want it to have high SQ.

Right now I have it in an awfully made ported box.

I've got it running off of a Viper d1200.1@1ohm

1999 Eclipse hatch

Would I still be able to get some good noise out of it?

I think it's slightly overrated, but yes I'm giving it 1000+w, I'm running very low gains set by a DMM though.

Reccomended spec is what, 1.5cubes?

All I see on their website is a ported spec.

a MK2 is a D6,they are one and the same sub BTW.....

They had the sub ready before the rest of the D6 lineup was complete

so they marketed it as a Mk2,then renamed it a D6....

Your amp is not to large for that sub , I mean my M6 sees more power than yours does,3 years of abuse.

Anyways,I have heard every diamond sub in almost every configuration.

If your not happy with "That " sub ported set up

good chance you have a shitty encosure with all the wrong specs......

Because a ported D6 with the right box absolutly sounds awsome, and is tight as Shakiras ***......

Perhaps you can shed some light on the box your currently running

I ran a D6 10 off 600w RMS in a 1.75 sealed enclosure and it was very loud and tight. I liked it quite a bit acutally. Now I am running a D9 12 at 1ohm off the 1500.1 in a similar sized sealed enclosure and odly I liked the sound of the D6 more. I am almost done with the diamond spec ported box so I am excited to hear that. From what I have heard though it would be optimal to build the diamond spec ported because it is designed to the sub and is a transmission line box.

excelerater, I don't even want to talk about the ported box I'm running ;-P

However, I think I'm going to try to run a 1.5-2.0cuft sealed enclosure and in the future I might try to build a ported box again.

Yes, Jrunr. That's almost an ideal application for the woofer. With a slash series JL amp you can run any ohm setting for the same power, and, for some reason I can't explain, it's better to run at 4 ohms.

It'll do but it isn't perfect.

It's in the power supply and it won't run at any resistance load....the slash-series JL amps are not rated to be stable below 1.5 Ohms.

and, for some reason I can't explain, it's better to run at 4 ohms.
We just covered that the Slash-series JL amps make the same power anywhere between 1.5 and 4 Ohms. It will make no difference where in that range the driver or drivers it is pushing falls - the amp wil make the same output.

I think as far as SPL the w3v2 and the d6 are fairly similar, but from hearing them side by side, the d6 is tighter and cleaner.
D6 is more like a W6 than a w3...... but takes alot more power:naughty:

I think sealed they sound better in smaller boxes rather than larger ones, but I prefer SQ rather than SPL......

I have tried a few ported boxes and the best I have heard so far is the prefabbed AudioEnhancers.com

boxes, again more along SQ rather than SPL.....

I have a JL Steathbox in my 4runner right now and it is not putting out enough overall volume for me. I would like to stick with the enslcosure and the amp I have now, but get more actual SPL. (the sq thing is a given with the diamond subs)

Would this be an upgrade, or more a "lateral" move? I need all the good advice I can get here.

Thanks guys!

Jason
