Sealed Box Type Rs

A friend of mine has some Type E subs and is planning on getting some Type Rs. Well Im building him a new sealed box for his Type Es for now and then later he will put the Type Rs in there. How much space would these subs need? Will ~1.25 each be enough? 12s by the way

Right now I got the boxed designed to about 1.44 cubes to each sub. I know the Type Es will pound in that but is that enough for the Type Rs?

That quote should be...kotec123 hates type-r's in a sealed box because he likes a ported SPL rather that small sealed SQ box.

The type-R is perfectly fine in a sealed box, it all depends on what your friend wants in sound and the space available.

But the 05 Rs do suffer in seald boxes though...almost like they are being starved

well he has two Type Es in a prefab box right now. Hes going to put them in the box Im going to build him - and if he still doesnt like the sound he will get type Rs.

Also I wouldnt consider 1.45 cubes to each sub after disp small for 12s

I guess it all depends what you want as sound and space requirement.

I prefer SQ over SPL and I have a small golf GTI, so my trunk space is limited..So I didnt want a bigger ported box.

Also the fact that I have a small trunk helps with the bass.

I got an 10" R and I tried a ported box and a sealed box to alpines specs and I prefer my sealed.. Now maybe I'll built a bigger ported box and see how that sounds
