Sealed area volume----quick question

OK, building boxes for 8" Boston's.

Manufacturer recommends .3 cu ft

I can build up to .41 cu ft

Size constraints are due to box location without altering my rig.

I listen to rock mainly, but my musical interest would be described as A-D-D for the most part.

I have read that manufacturers recommended sizes are too small, but I have ZERO experience in that area.

So what do you guys think------ .3 or .41------- or does it really matter?

If it matters they are D4's 200w rms each wired at 8ohms in parallel (4ohm) pushed by 500w rms that will be set to 425 rms max once I set up my amp with a tone generator.

I have run my G1 12 in a sealed box close to spec and I ran my G5 12s in a spec box and they were fine. I have no other sealed boxes to compare them in. However they really wake up when you put either in a ported box.

In winISD it shows qtc of 1.03 with an f3 of 55hz with .3 and .41 has a qtc of .95 with an f3 of 52.5hz. So you are gaining a little bit of low end extension as the sacrifice of output as you go bigger.
