SD's Big Three

I was just viewing Sound domains forums and they have a topic called The Big Three. And its basically a way for people who which dont have the money for a new battery or alternator to upgrade their electrical system. Has anyone else read it or tried it? I really dont have the money for an alternator but i can afford a yellow top battery and maybe the big three. Just depends on how much truth is behind it. If someone has the time, check it out and tell me your thoughts on it

Well i guess im going to go ahead and upgrade the big three because the money for an alternator isn't quite there. But to my surprise, i'm having very little light dimmage. Oh well, i guess thats good. But im still going to eventually get all the necessary upgrades.

I hear the big three is a very good upgrade also. But i was just wondering has any of you tried it or know much about it. Try to keep this thread alive a lil bit so that everyone who doesnt visit sounddomain can check it out.

And thanks for adding the link for me.

before doing any other big upgrades, do the big three. they will help tremendously. it is common sense, bigger wires will carry more current with less trouble. i have heard that the big three will help alot... i will try it soon, but i would go the big three over any other... consider $5 for sire over $80 for a cap, $120 for an alt, amd $100 for a batt...

go simple. not costly

lol, 120 for alt? where at? Man i have been looking at prices and the cheapest i found was 280. the highest was 360-380. and both was for a 200amp alternator for a honda accord.

And i kinda noticed something today. Well, when i very very first got my system i knew nothing about it. All i knew is i wanted some bass. So my friend hooked up all my wires and stuff. And since then, i havent even really paid attention to up under my hood. Well after reading about the so called BIG 3, i decided to look up under my hood so i can figure out what to do. And i noticed my power wire is ran from my batter to the back where the amp is. But there is NO other wires. I have a distribution block with a 180amp fuse. Now i know there is something wrong

That one wire you were referring to that goes back to the amp is just simply the amps power wire, there is more than likely another wire maybe bigger than this one connected to the battery terminal that goes down to your cars starter. Some, in fact almost all alternator charging wires go down to this wire on the starter. Thats the way my old car was and the way my new car is. All you have to do is look on the back of the alternator and find the post with a wire connected to it and then get a length of at least your amps power wire and put a ring terminal on it, screw it underneath the nut on this post and run this to your battery's positive post. Then you need to upgrade your ground wire from your battery's negative post to your cars chassis. If all you can find is a wire from the neg. battery terminal to the motor block then just simply drill a hole in your car's chassis somewhere close by, sand it down put a bolt and nut through this and then run a new wire from your battery's negative post to this new grounding spot on te chassis using a ring terminal. This is what I had to do.

Depending on what size of wire the factory used for your car upgrading the "big three" MIGHT remove a total of five-hundredths of an ohm from the power circuit - that's about it, but people swear it works so I guess it must.
