SD8000 amp... supposedly puts out 12k RMS at 12v?!

Even is the price was a hair over $2,000 for the SD8000, thats really not that bad. People buy Rockford T4ks like crazy... Those are about $1,300 and do 4,000rms. This amp gives much more wattage per dollar and Im sure is built to a higher standard.
I met Murilo at SBN, and saw his Street B car in action. Very impressive product and a very cool dude. I see SounDigital blowing up real soon.

So Murilo, wanna get me 4 SD8000s for my van? 24 15s in a bandpass with a full 18v electrical system. Im broke now, but you never know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Hey man, all fine?

Where were you van? I was hoping to see that in SBN!

You are broke but you can always sell some products ehehe.

Hello Cuseikan

In fact this kind of technology is already there, we can see in the high-powered servo drivers for electric motors, some 10kW models are small like the SD8000

Murilo is a good guy and knows what he's talking about. Maybe one of these days I'll give SD a try. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

We use 8x 90N20 on SD8000.
As per it's data sheet at 77 degrees F they can do 90 amps each. However, we all know amps run hot so id guesstimate that they probably do around 80 amps of current at 100 deg or so. Not bad, if they can take the heat load and the chassis can get rid of it fast enough.

Yes, the output devices are N-channel (since the amp have a H-bridge) rated at 200V and 90A, the DC current will be limited by the heat and leads, but as they are used for switching the maximum current increases a lot, passing 100A.

Some testing in the factory showed us that this output stage can handle up to 18kW, and considering the amp releases 13kW in 16V systems it´s ok. It´s very rare to see a output stage blow, the cases that happened here were caused by defective devices from factory.

Jeff, I sent you a mail.

We will see how it does with 18v into the amps compared to 10.5, and some input voltage from a line driver. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
