Scoshe 6x8 to 5.25 adapter not that great? Should I use mdf?

I have a set of focal 5.25 components I'm about to install in my '99 f-250. Have to wait till after Christmas so the wife doesn't know I bought them for myself this close to Christmas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. The stock speaker hole is supposed to accept both 5x7 or 6x8 speakers.

I bought schoshe 6x8 to 5.25 plastic adapter rings, but these things seem pretty "rinky dink". The hole in the middle is also alllllmost too large to seal up behind the 5.25 midrange driver. It's pretty much the same diameter as that of the driver.

I'm concerned about not getting the full quality from my speakers if these things don't seal up behind the 5.25 woofer properly. I'd be better off to purchase some 1/4 mdf and make my own adapters, wouldn't I?

yes i'd make an mdf plate... i've learned to never ever buy anything Scoshe that requires correct fitment or correct make/model for their adapters... rca's or like speaker wire I'll buy but thats the extent of them.

Yeah, I don't wanna spend 300 bucks on a set of speakers for them to not sound right because of the mounting adapter. It'd work for a 6.5 just fine, but not too well for these 5.25's. It's close, and it might work, but I think I'll just go for a sheet of mdf and I'll use these adapters as an outer template.
