hey guys,

i finally got around to getting a new hu for my car after i got robbed. but when i went to wire it up i realized that there is no orange wire (the 12v battery wire i belive?) is there any way around it? like another wire or a wire from another spot i can use?

thanks

Not sure if it's different for my car, and I don't know much about anything, but on my car and HU the orange wire was just the illumination wire. Orange and white was dimmer. Like I said, could be different for you.

The color scheme might be different on your HU than on your car or wiring harness. Are you using a harness or hard wiring? Your HU book should tell you what every wire is. And if you got a harness, the packaging should say what those wires go to.

i had a dvd player in before that which was not wired by myself. it had a harness but when it got stolen it got all fcuked up. so i went on installdr to find the colour scheme

So you are hard wiring directly to the cars wires? If so and you got the color scheme for the cars wires (orange = +12v) check the documentation on your HU and be sure that the +12v wire isn't red or something. The color of the wire from the car won't necessarily be the same color as the wire that would come out of the cars aftermarket wiring harness. And even the one that comes out of the harness won't necessarily be the same color as the one in the HU.

If the thief didn't cut off behind the stock plug on the cars wires (i. e. you can still use an aftermarket harness) I would do that.

Hope that helps. I'm pretty much a newb myself, so if it doesn't help I'm sure someone else will come along that knows better.

Good luck.

i know the hu wire isnt the same as the cars, i got my little diagram explaining which wires go where. i just hoped there was an easy way to do this.

Depending on the year of the saturn it may be in a separate plug. Dig behind your dash and try and find a two pin plug, One of them should be orange. Or you can get it at the column or directly to the battery.
