this is my buddy's saturn sl. don't recall the model year.
his brother in-law gave him the "enclosure" and sub. he bought the pionner amp...against my recommendations. *just want to specify that i had nothing to do with the creation of the monstrosity nor the purchase/use/installation of the sony sub.*
here is said setup as it was from his brother in-law:
with that out of the way, i was just going to make a thread for the clean-up of his stereo. i wanted to help him with another enclosure and just an overall cleaning. this is not a high dollar setup...actually a budget system. and he will not be spending a great deal more (buying a harley).
currently consits of a Sony h/u, Alpine SPS-17C2 6.5s in front doors and rear deck, Sony 10" sub, and Pioneer GM-5200T amp.
plans are to swap the sony h/u out for an Alpine CDA-9856, and swap the sub out for a JL 10w3v2.
we will be ditching the plywood for a fiberglassed enclosure on the driver's side rear corner. we're going to get started on that this weekend hopefully. last weekend was all about making space.
he always has stuff being moved around in the trunk, so a clean space-saving enclosure is ideal. that's also where the amp placement comes from. i am not a fan of mounting amps upside down, but it really is the best place for it for his needs. if it starts getting warm, i told him we could rig up a fan or something. a week later, no issues though.
it's a start anyway!
i posted this on another forum and was accused of "ragging on my buddy." that is not the intention. i just don't like the current setup and neither does he. it wasn't his fault, he didn't know any better, but he's anxious to make some changes, and i'm all about helping.
