SA-8's, dual 4ohm or 2ohm?

I am getting rid of my kicker L5 12in and replacing it with two SA-8s because I got a new small car, and my kicker in its big ported box sounds awesome, but it wouldn't fit in my new car. I had to put the kicker in a much smaller box to fit and it sounds like crap.

After researching on here, I decided on 2 SA-8's, in a 0.8 cube per chamber ported box is the biggest I can get in my trunk. Anyways, my amp is a 2 channel amp that puts out,

370RMS @ 2ohms per channel.

Do I purchase the Dual 4ohm coil model, or the Dual 2ohm coil model? Sorry guys, I no a stupid simple question, but I don't want to buy the wrong purchase, not the smartest at car audio.

d4. you can run each sub at 2 ohms on each channel
****, good thing I asked, because I would have just bought the 2 ohm subs thinking it matched my amps 2 ohm output. Doesn't make to much sense to me lol, but like I said, im not that smart with it!

So the 4ohm sub, will run at 370RMS when my amp is 370RMS stable in 2 ohms?

yep, you can also buy reconed subs from woofer much cheaper then buying brand new
I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I posted in his thread a week or two ago! Once I get my finances in order, ill start purchasing if available at that time!

From what I have been reading, if I get the 4ohm ones, don't I have to wire the two subs together? Since my amp is two channels, I want to keep everything separate since they will be in two different boxes, not one big combined box.

EDIT: I just did a bunch of research and this is what I found, let me know if its correct. If I buy the dual 4 ohm voice coils,

I connect the positive of voice coil 1, to the positive of voice coil two.

I connect the negative of voice coil 1, to the negative of voice coil two.

I connect the positive from voice coil 1, to the positive on the amp.

I connect the negative from voice coil 2, to the negative on the amp.

This way, my dual 4ohm sub, will be in 2ohms which matches my amps 370RMS 2ohm ouput.

Is this correct?

not sure exactly what you want to do,but I would suggest one box not two, and what boxes are you going to use? I know your new but let us help you, SA-8 suggest a certain size box for better sound, I mean if you throw it in just any box you won't get th same result if you were to throw it in the right box.. I'm sure someone lives close to, to help you out with a box. just PM ME I can help or someone on here can

Well, I am using a box that is 0.8 cubic feet ported per sub. SA website says 0.6 to 1.0 cubic feet per sub ported, so I am right in the middle.

Am I correct with the dual 4ohm though, for my subwoofer set up?

If you are running the amp stereo and want 2 ohms.....buy 1 4ohm DVC SA 8 and wire each woofer as follows

If you are running the amp bridged and want 2 ohms....buy 2 2ohm DVC SA 8's and wire them like follows...

Hope this helps...

If possible....I would recommend bridging the amp and using it to run both speakers in one box. I have always felt that subwoofers sounded better bridged, then running them off separate channels. Also, ask some of the box builders around here. I am sure most would tell you 1 box would be better then 2. I believe you can get 2 woofers in a smaller box then 2 woofers in separate boxes....again, ask the more experienced and see what they would recommend.
