I had the SA-12 Klippel tested... most forms of distortion were quite low (the only form that is relatively high is inductive since I don't have shorting rings in the motor). This motor is quite similar, although, the coil was reduced from 2.5" to 2" diameter to fit a larger spider. Are these going to be geared solely towards spl or will they have decent sq? Any idea how they would compare to an RL-i 8? The fs is obviously higher, and sensitivity is lower, but pretty close.
why was the spider the weak part? what about a cotton/polyester spider, or dual spiders?i hear ya. i have been thinking about cutting a welding on a 8" basket to strech it for more excursion. the problem lies the 6" spider would still limit it too much unless there can be 1 had with a deep roll to it. i am still researching this. the t3 tss 10" had a small 6" spider with a 3" coil and had about 2.5" of excursion. of course the spider was the weak point in this sub. what about a 2.5" or actually 2.375 coil with a DEEP roll spider, hmmm.
i want to see a 8" with crazy excursion!
Put shorting rings in them!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifI had the SA-12 Klippel tested... most forms of distortion were quite low (the only form that is relatively high is inductive since I don't have shorting rings in the motor). I don't consider it an SPL only sub by any means.
