Is it alright to run a remote wire for the amp off the main 4gauge wiring direct from the battery, the remote wire is the small thin stuff, ive got it connected frmo a distribution block, i just want to know will it damage my amp, or cause an overload of electricity into remote connection. I've had another amp die on me while doing the same thing but i think it was because of overheating.. so please can someone shed some light on that topic please.. thankz a lot!

Cheers!

yea thats whats supposed to be done... just want to know if the way im doing it will be sweet.. this is probably supposed to be in wiring section as well.. too bad! :p

well yes it is switched obviously, otherwise it woull be on all the time... or can just disconnect the remote wire. So does the remote connection have a voltage limit, because more than 12v's will be flowing through it when car is on...

You won't get any extra voltage doing it that way than doing it the normal way, besides they are designed to take up to ~14.4V anyways. A component will only draw as much current as it needs, you will be fine. And if you are doing it that way, you should at least hook up a switch (but the best would use a relay).

If you have no choice, either attach it to the ignition so it's only on when the key is on, or add a switch so you can turn it off in the dash. Having it on constantly will eventually drain your battery.

alright.. thank you thank you, sweet got that cleared up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Please...have it at least wired to a switched voltage source...a friend of mine wired his remote wire to his amp-cooling fans directly, with just a simple SPST pushbutton switch. Ended up having to jump start his car lately that week, and he needed a new battery.

Also, a 500mA inline fuse wouldn't be a bad idea.
