Running an amplifier at 1ohm? Will it kill the amp?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Crossfire 1000BMD amplifier. It does 1000 watts @ 1 ohm... the exact power I would like to throw towards my 2 Type R 12's. But I was told that if I run it at 1 ohm the amp would die on me soon. I dont know whether to trust this info.. because the amp IS rated to do 1 ohm why the hell would it die.

Anyways, if I can't run it at 1ohm for long I would have to run it at 4ohm's which would only output 250W... which is kinda dumb.

if it's rated at 1ohm then it'll do 1ohm all day. kick whoever told you that square in the balls and tell them to give you some free shit while you're at it. drop it below 1ohm and it may not like it very well.

you'll be fine running it at 1 ohm, although it may get noticeably hotter...
