Does the amp actually ever see .5? I hear most people saying box rise happens so if wired to .5 ohms ill still be over 1ohms. Is that correct? Im only wondering because I always have run my American Bass Vfl at 1 ohm but if its really only seeing 2 or more than I want to wire lower. Thanks for the help

Pretty much. But box rise is dependent on the enclosure and a few other things. So relying on box rise isn't bullet proof. If you can model your box you can get a general idea of what your box rise will be at at what frequencies. If I were you I would clamp my amp at 2ohm and figure your rise at 2 ohm then go from there.

2x 4 ohm coils can be wired parallel to 2 ohms or series to 8 ohms. There's many amps with 2 ohm power you can use.

Thanks for the feedback. It was a long shot but there will definitely be much more powerful subs in the trunk, so clearing it out isn't an option...
