Running a switch?

I have four subs.

I want to be able to run two subs daily, but have a switch to turn on the other 2 if i want...

Would i need two amps?

And how would i go about putting a switch in?

links would be fine, i don't expect someone to dedicate hours helping me, thanks

(would you advise against this? i'm just interested in trying new things, that's all)

thank you, very helpful link...

i could just pull over and plug the other two in, would save time, but if i could flip a switch and run all 4 instead of 2, it would be more convnient is all...

i'm a newb, will most likely f something up, but figuring things out is my hobby

Thanks again

Here is another option to the great and simple idea that Squeak posted. You can extend each voice coil and amplifier output wire to your center console area, or where ever you want that has room for the connector housing you buy or build. A buss bar of banana plugs can be built with different wiring inside the handle that can wire all the coils differently as well as just delete coils or subs completely. It takes a whole lot longer than Squeaks suggestion with the only real benefit being that you can change it right there where you sit. If you don't plan on changing the setup often, don't bother with this suggestion.

Buld in 2 (One for each 2 subs) 120vac outlets into your box, and from your amp, have 2 plugs. Then you just plug in your sub(s) like you would some appliance in your house. (But acually your plugging your amp into your sub this way, not plugging your subs into your amp) You could reverse the plug and outlet setup to have it the opposite.

Dont really know what you want to do this for, but just have fun with it I guess.

Run a SPDT (single pole, double throw) switch...wire one remote wire to one contact, the other remote wire to the other, then you could switch between the two.
Comeon guys keep it simple.... ^^^ is the easiest and cleanest... if he has 2 amps

But with that, he couldnt run both. His original post said he wanted to run both. He could have 1 amp, hooked up as normal, and then the other amp, on the remote lead, he could wire a SPST, and turn that amp on when he wants it to run with the other one. Thats the simplest for what he was asking about.
