Running a stand alone system of 2nd alt for system?

My last car had a 200amp alt, big 3 and typical wiring setup. Anyways I'm somewhat convinced the electrical system in the car was damaged if not destroyed in my car that ended up dieing and being scrapped anyway. My new car is a 91' Volvo 940 turbo and I Want to put my big system in it but I'm afraid of destroying the electric system. Would it a good or bad idea to run an entire second system. Second alternator with 0 gauge to batt, then 0gauge to trunk + then 0 gauge back to batt -. Basically this entire electrical system would not be connected to the rest of the car. Anyone done this before? opinions?

Systems will not damage the electrical system unless its installed with stupid shit like running power wire through the fuse box.

the way you want it will be fine,,, thats home some ppl have a 12 volt system for there car and then a 16 volt alt for there system ( the 16 volt is just and example)

you mean other than a longer belt? a fuse on the positive lead.

I knew the belt would be needed, I should put an in-line fuse between the alt and batt?
