run ported with no SS filter?

so i built my new box yesterday...and im ready for putting the ports in......but i dont what to bugger up my sub........so would it be ok to tune it to 35hz without running a SS filter??

the box screams....port me port me

You'll need an fmod if your going to be porting it that high.

 
yea but i heard fmods are ****

i can get a basscube to do it for 144$ i may go that route then i have alot of other tuning features for it as well/

i'd rather just get a good xover w/ a SSF on it.

 
You don't need one, but your subwoofer may be damaged by tones below 26.25 Hz ...
hey jmac how do you figure out what tone would hurt the sub? My box is tuned to 25hz so what would hurt that?

just buy an Audio Control EQ for like 150-200 bucks. if sound quality is an issue that is...if it isnt...**** it!!!
