Routing Remote Wire

Is it possible the routing 18 guage remote wire along side the RCA signal cables could induce alternator whine into my system? The place that installed my amp did it this way, and I have terrible alternator whine, but it just seems to me that 18 guage wire doesn't provide enough juice to induce the kind of horrible noise that alternator whine is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

yea I thought the same thing but it just seems like my grounds are fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I am only running one four channel amp to power four speakers. But at the moment I don't even have a head unit in my car (arrives Thursday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif ) So I can't do much testing on it anyways.

I have read so much about this, I have had the problem for over a year now, and I think come saturday I will be going to the specialty audio shop here and just say "fix it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif "

Where is the amp grounded? Just because it is solidly physically connected to its grounding point does not necessarily mean it is a good grounding location //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

could it be the power or ground cable near the rca's? i know its supposed to be a myth, and not really cause it, but when i was in the process of removing my amp, and separating all the cable-ties, separating the rca's from the power and grounds seemed to stop the whine. since the car is in the shop, i cant 100% verify it, but i check my grounds a million times, and separating the wires out was the only thing that did anything.

Yea my power and grounds are running on opposite sides of the car from the RCA's.

Also, what would constitute a good grounding point? I know it has to be a ground loop but figuering out why is the hard part. I don't want to resort to using a groundloop isolator either since it really takes away from the sound quality.
