Roof Mounted 6.5 n Tweets. Right Above Your Head. To Much?

Well i'll admit I might not be a stickler for perfect music and I just like clear highs and having them have the ability to get loud. I probably wouldnt go to much into tuning with an external EQ or anything, just what I can tune with my premier HU

BTW- thats ALOT of speakers in your work van lol, good stuff, Does it not sound TO loud with the speakers above you? Being as yours are actually right above your head n mine are a bit more infront of me....

Like others have mentioned. Just do it, is your car anyway. If you like it, then it was worth it, right? Then if not, all it takes is putting it back the way it was ment to be. Simple as that. I used to have my tweeters up on the pillars right by your ears. A lot of people didn't like it, but I did. That was when I had uber bass though to keep up. I don't do that anymore.

I honestly can say it doesnt sound loud right over you. its not like it blast down on you. They are forward enough that it just passes in front of me. its almost hard to pinpoint where the sound is coming from, due to the other speakers in the set up. When driving it just has sound coming from everywhere. Most of the time its just the mids/tweets and sub going, but when im in the mood and I turn on all the shit, it if ****ing loud.

Well mounting in the ceiling would take a good bit of time and some $$$ to fiberglass and finish it all, so Id like to do it the way that going to get the loudest and clearest the first time. Being different comes second when I want to get loud

Why would I need to do any eq'ing more advanced than whats offerred on my premier 860 deck? just curious, figured I could mount them, listen to them, play with my fades and highs/lows a bit and it would sound great.

And you have the room to talk how? People called John Sketoe dumb for using A pillar mounting of his components in his IASCA car, yet he went undefeated in 2006, wonder why he did that if it is just going to sound like shit. Scott Buwalda has all of his speakers mounted under the dash, I wonder if it sounds like shit too.

That said, to the OP, it'll take a lot of work to get them to sound right (phase, time alignment, etc) but could turn out good if done right. If you don't have the time, money, or equipment to perform the necessary tuning, and the countless hours you will spend with trial and error, I wouldn't bother.

Kef

why yes! because im sure the op has the skills of those two! (or there respective installers)

Good point, but like I mentioned, he'd need good equipment to get the phase/time alignment he'd need to make it sound good, as well as the time to trial and error everything.

Mark Rainey did Sketoe's Acura, and he was voted Installer of the Year a while back (05 or 06, IIRC).

Pretty sure that Buwalda does most of his own shit though.

So yeah, installer/skills helps a ton in this situation as well.

Ya Im not pro sq installer, I just like music, and my subs play excellent.... so Id like to speaker to be able to keep up to the highs.

Maybe a set of 5.25's in the roof......

naw, 6.5's why not I got the room.

Just dont know if I should mount 2 sets in the door or one above and one in the door.

Going with the PG RSD's though

Besides having to deal with the left speakers not completely on his left side, assuming he was able to aim these components well, what imaging problems would he run into?

Just wondering because mids in the kick panels would seem really similar to this setup. Just below the dash instead of above. What are the problems that come up with speakers on roof in front of you?

Beaming.

when you got to a concert do you see speakers in the on the roof pointed directly at the top of your head? No you dont and if you do its a POS teen club or something. Learn the basics in Imaging before asking questions like this.
Not saying I support this Idea, however, if you go to a big concert, you normally do see the speakers hanging from the roof and pointing at your head, unless you only go to small clubs or something....
