Ron Paul

His economic ideas are the only thing that make me wonder about him. I honestly dont see how he could get rid of the taxes, ect. Personally I dont even think they'd let him touch that issue, yet alone make many changes. Congress still has to pass anything he trys to do. The rest of the republicans still stike me as a bunch of oddballs (thats putting it nicely) so long as this stupid drug war thing gets changed, too much $ is being wasted on bullshit.

Not to mention the US is funding Columbia and the cartels down there now have their own personal army funded by the US.

no way a republicans gonna win the election anyway.
they dems could run a black woman and still win.
I dont know about that. The 1st reaction I had to Ron Paul was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif "this guys a republican!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif " Hell Bush won, twice. So who knows what'll happen.

Ron Paul would be better identified as a libertarian running as a republican. However his idodic statement on how the fed reserve creates economic bubbles and that we are just printing money to pay debt seriously makes me label him as both an idiot and a wacko... If he was smart, but didn't understand economics he'd ask someone that understood it and then realize how stupid those assertions are....

as for the dems having an open and shut case on '08 I hardly think they have it in the bag... they've pissed of maybe 20% (2/3's of the base) by doing nothing but showmanship on stopping the war and essentially getting nothing done... hell their approval rating is single digit... I guarantee that Obama will trip up and Hillary will eat him alive.... and when it's Hillary vs. Someone in '08 it'll motivate the rep base like nothing other... there might be 2-5% of republicans that are flat out racist but I'd say 70% view Hillary as the devil incarnate... personally I think both of their policies would be equally bad for the US, and that Obama is actually quite a bit more radical than her... but then she has the power and skill to actually get her agenda moving so it's a tossup on who's worse...

bush gets his brain implanted into a monkey..then claims himself to be the real life donkey kong

So then whats your take on why this inflation is happening? Last I checked the US dollar vs the canadian dollar is 1.05 per us dollar. Thats the lowest ive ever seen.
Exchange rates and inflation are not the same thing. Both rely on supply and demand though. There has been less demand for US dollars, for various reasons, such as the less attractive investing environment since 2001 with the stock market correction and the very low interest rates... an education can be had on the subject here:

http://www.chicagofed.org/consumer_information/strong_dollar_weak_dollar.cfm

Besides the weak dollar is good for business which means it's good for jobs.... of course that can lead to waves of illegal immigration but whatever.... American's are not having enough kids to replace themselves not to mention aborting quite a few on top of that....

Understandable (thx for the link) and yes that does make sense. However, you dont think that there's a possibility its a combination of BOTH?

As for the illegal immigration issue, well here is where I stand on that issue:

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3314847&postcount=112

Im not trying to defend Ron Pauls areas of lacking, im just looking at it as whos the least retarded out of the bunch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif The combination of changing some of the drug war issues like: pulling out of Columbia, and changing MJ laws + taxing it should more then cover the war on the "other" much more lethal drugs out there so that would be a nice balance IMO instead of us wasting $50 (probably over 60) billion a year on that bullshit.

Also modifying birthright (I dont think it'll end) to the version I was saying in that post should slow down a lot of the new illegal immigration, plus reduce all the tax $ supporting them. Saving over $70+ billion a year in tax, not including the mess overseas should more then be a welcome change for the US. Personally I can look past his financial understanding (or lack of) because not everything he wants to be changed will be changed, its all going to end at a compromise but IMO it seems like an overall step in a better direction isnt a bad thing.

Bringing an end to the so called "war on drugs" hes 100% against it and calls it a waste of $ (which it is)

theres homemade signs down a main road where i live (college town) saying " who is ron paul? " and "google ron paul " funny shit

edit...post #2222!

Both what? What the hell does the Fed reserve have to do with economic bubbles and what does printing money have to do with the exchange rate?

First off paper money isn't part of the money supply till it actually enters circulation (ie, the cash in a bank vault ISN'T money)...

Second the one of the main functions of the federal reserve is to manage the supply of money

Third the government BORROWS money to pay for new expenses... it doesn't simply print money and put it into circulation....

Ron Paul doesn't know SH1T about economics and the cost of him muddling with our economy will have MUCH higher economic impact than $20 billion or so the government will spend on the entire war on drugs this year... $20 billion is .008% of federal government spending...

I'm cool with modifying birthrite and I welcome legal immigration....

Sure it's a waste of money but it's a drop in the bucket and it's a silly reason to elect and idiot to office... sure he has some great components to him but he could really cause some problems with his economic ideas...
