Rockford fostgate amp fried

Hey there I recently hooked up a p500-4 up for just my front soeakers running two channels. They sounded great l. Good bass response and then the low frequenzy sounded like a piece of paper in a port. I adjusted it and though hey maybe it's the pa speakers. Btw are punch pros. I then put my rear door speakers in yesterday. These are components sets. And got it all in, turn on the car and hooked up one wire. And then no remote start signal was going to the amp. Take a multi meter to it check fuses and then unplug everything from the amp. And found 1/3 remote wires had 12v. Used that hooked it up. Speakers in front started popping and going out. And then I smelled burning so I pull the speaker wire out of the amp Sparks flying and swap to a p300x2 I have. No the fronts work flawless again. And the bass response is back.

Question is. Was it just the amp? And I had to much wired up finally and it gave out? I've had it for 3 years. Or is something wrong with the speakers?

I'm just very timid about hooking another amp up and having another $&@# show go on.

Turns out the right rear wire that's been in my car for years had the rubber worn off of it and it was grounding out. Sadly that fried one amp. But at least I know what was causing this
