Any of you guys have experience with this amp?

A co-worker bought this amp for his subs this week. He's been running a Memphis Audio mono amp @ 1 ohm powering two DVC 4 ohm subs. I think the Memphis amp is rated 1000w RMS @ 1 ohm. Anyway, all of the specs I've found online show that the BD1000A1 is 2 ohm stable, but they don't mention 1 ohm stability. Is this amp 1 ohm stable, or did he goof up with this purchase? He doesn't exactly understand wiring config. and I don't think he did his homework before buying this amp. If it isn't 1 ohm stable, then he's probably taking a step backwards as far as power is concerned. A local car audio shop claimed that amp is capable of 3000w RMS, which sounds ridiculous to me.

I don't think it's in their current lineup. He bought it used and I think he said it was several years old.

I just did a search for it earlier today and looked at reviews and specs from other websites.

that amp is about a year or 2 old. i used to have a 1001bd. it is not 1 ohm stable. do not run it at 1 ohm. i ran mine at 1 ohm and it fried instantly. it's a great amp you are planning to run it 2 ohm. it also doesn't produce 3000 watts. mine was benched at 1100 watts rms.

The amp could be older than that, is it an old power 1000a1? I use to have one... great amp. I never ran mine as 1 ohm, and no RF doesn't recommend running it at one 1ohm. He might be fine, he might not. If he does it, I'd at least give the amp some extra cooling //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif... I'd stick with what ice said though. As for 3000 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif, if its the old power bd1000a1 I bet it does a good amount more than 1100 at 14.4.

My friend has 4 -12" RF HX^2's with 2 bd1000.1's and WOWWW, im pretty sure they are 1 ohm stable (newer ones)...but he claimed he had them running at 1/2 ohm???...i dunno, true or not, I was very impressed with this amp. I also hear an Eclipse Tit. 15" with a bd1500.1, and the amp fried at 3/4 gain...BUTTTT it sounded incredible....that alone is why I am looking to get 2 of these subs. Was louder (or Sounded louder) than my 2 12" L7's at 900 watts each.

This amp is fully 1ohm stable i used to have 3 of those monsters

now i have 4 1000bd running 3 ma audio 6ohm dvc on each amp that's 12 subs:D

the power of this amp is amazing maybe not 3000rms but at least 1300rms@1ohm@12.5v.

trust me those amps are not 1 ohm stable.

Yeah, he said it's the older Power Series BD1000A1. I'm gonna recommend he get new subs. If he keeps the DVC 4 ohm subs he has, he'll have to run this amp at 4 ohms and won't be anywhere near its full potential. The specs I've read show that this amp only puts out about 750w RMS at 4 ohms, so he's actually downgraded from his Memphis as far as power is concerned.
