gain was all the way down and bass settings on cd player were all the way down...and it slams so DAM* hard...it makes everything in my vehicle go crazy and vibrates the windshield like crazy...it flexes everything...with the power amp i had to turn the gain nearly halfway up to get it loud.
Now not that Im arguing your stance on kicker amps being better, but this statement worries me. Do you know what gain does and how to set it? Gain is suposed to be matched up to the output voltage of the deck, and depending on the sensitivity, floor and style of gain control it can very. For example a mtx amp does not have linear gain control, does that make it worse? Nope just means the dial is gonna have to be turned up on a deck with lower preout voltage more than an amp with linear control. This might very well have been the issue here and either way, gain level is hardley any way to truly judge an amp.
i think a company that under rates their amp by almost 1000 watts is a pretty good compnay that make pretty good amps, don't you think?
I think companys that tell the truth on what their amps actually do by properly rating them in the first place is a good company to buy from personally. If a company wants to make an amp that does 1000RMSx1 at 2 ohms thats cool, but dont stamp on the box 50x2 and then on the inside put 76.4 x 2 and 983x1. Keep shit level and abondon the BS. Things like that are why I like CEA2006 Rating. It makes for a level playing field for ratings (which by the way both companies in question abide by) but thats why the max power rating is triple the rated power, because there is no way to govern that so they just stamp whatever number they want on their and then say that thats how you can compare it to the flee market gear out there. To much BS in the end for my liking
yea especialy for people who are looking for a specific amount of power, maybe for speakers.. buy the amp thinking it will do the job just to find out its putting out a hell of alot more and risk the chance of blowing the speakers if they cant handle that power.
i will admit, however...RF's amps don't have the most impressive internals... heck, MBQuarts quick stint at amps (RF made) had MUCH MUCH MUCH better looking internals.. wierd shit
