road noiseand deadening q

where are the most important areas to deaden in order to achieve a quiet ride?
Floors, firewall, wheel wells (from the inside) and doors.

However, you want to "deaden" them with barrier loading material (open and closed cell foams, etc) in addition to mass loading materials (deadening mat, etc) if you want end up with a quiet ride.

Liquid deadener (like SS Spectrum) has better barrier loading characteristics than mat type deadener does. However, it isn't as effective as pure barrier loading materials.

is that in order? floor is the most effective place to start and the rest less effective? if so ,why does so much noise come from the floor? why do most people do their trunk first?and how is yuor car comming along sqk?

i bought the dynamat trunk kit and my trunk still shakes violently. my taillights are built into the trunk lid and there making noise.

any good tips about deadening the trunk of a 2000 camry.

here is a good way to treat any car.

In this order

1 layer mat on wheel wells, top and bottom

2-3 mm liquid on top of that

1 layer mat on quarter panels

2-3 mm liquid on top of that

2 layers mat interior door skin

1-mm liquid on top of that

1-2 layers mat or liquid outter soor skin

2-3 mm liquid on interior floor

1-2 mm liquid on exterior floor (undercoating)

1-2 layers mat on firewall

1-2 layers liquid top of that

this is a great way to treat road noise. The goal is to treat the vibrations in the direction the flow. starting at the source. So the first place the noise hits is the wheel wells, then it travels to the quarter panels, along the side of the car in through the doors. hit these ares first as this is where the most road noise can be blocked. Lots of noise does come in through the floor but not as much as the other areas, and since it will take a lot more product to treat the floor, be efficiant and hit the more important areas first. DO HIT THE FLOOR THOUGH!

the firewall is the last place you hit, some noise does come inthrough it, but not a terrible amount.

The above suggestions is great but you dont have to do both products. if you can afford to the do it, and if you can affor more, then ad a lead or vinyl barrier on top of all that stuff to further reflect airborne sound waves.

Hope that all make sence

If anyone has any questions about this stuff feel free to call me. I know a little b it about it.

I am always happy to help regardless of what product you use.

yeah...sorry, wasn't in any particular order

why do most people do their trunk first?
Because they aren't trying to stop road noise, they are trying to stop rattles from the bass.

and how is yuor car comming along sqk?
