Rms/output for speakers.

Whats your opinion on absolute minimum to rms that you should run to a speaker.

When i look at amps with 50rms. I sorta cringe. Doesnt seem like much to me. In order to get loud enough to not be able to talk too or say keep up with a good substage. say a 12 on 500-1000rms.

question is geared more towards when i help others build systems, im not sure what a good minimum to go with is. Ive gone with no lower than 75x2 or x4, when i tell others what to look for in an amp.

I run 50 rms x 4 and 500 rms x sub in my truck, and my daughters car. And it gets plenty loud using Infinty Kappa mids and highs ..... But generally I like to run 100+ rms per/ch to my mids and highs when I start making some serious ****-boom ...

Choose the right tweeters and you shouldn't need more than about 10W. Mids/Mid-bass are a bit different, all efficiency-dependent. I'll be running about 200W to each of my mids to level out with about 30-50W on my tweeters.

thats what im running in my system.

6.5 and 8" are getting 200rms each and my tweeters are getting 100 rms per 2 . so 50rms each.

I like it very loud and clear, 300 watts for the tweeters and mids (75 x 4) and 500 to the subs..

Right now it's loud enough you can't hear yourself think and having a conversation is absolutely out of the question, i could achieve the same results with 60 watts rms per channel but that would be as low as i would go..
