rl-s i dont get it

Yeah...own one.
But you really can't expect a lot of these people to understand a motor topology like LMT, or hell even a normal motor. Let them piss and moan about 3.5 coil, its not like you can explain to them why it is that way if they don't want to learn.
Have you reached it's excursion limits yet? It a very good show up to that point.

Yep. You definitely know when you get to that point, I only got there for a second just to see what it could take. But yeah, that sucker can move my friends were perplexed when I showed them.

Nothing special about the motor - It just has a huge *** gap.

The 'special' thing is the coil if you want to call it special. Instead of putting an indent or a gap in the motor (top plate section) like xbl^2, they did it with the coil. Basically created the ends thicker then the middle...and imitating xbl's good parts....

But....then you get into issues of higher cost of production due to the coil being a PITA to wind...and you can't make it a dual, because the gap would have to be twice as wide as it already is...in turn making the Q in the 1.xx++ range..and having even less bl (even though there would be more wire in the gap)...

I'm glad people (besides me) are seeing what will go wrong with this sub, if you push it just a little too far it gets *****y quick...

Just curious as to why you feel the constant need to continually bash a sub you've never heard or used every time it is mentioned on any forum ?

That is true, its just a typical motor with a gap big enough to fit that variably wound coil, which is the real difference. But yeah, it has drawbacks. I would definitely prefer an xbl driver to one of these as it doesn't have these drawbacks.

I dont know if you are aware of it or not, but xmech

Actually

I've had one of the prototypes in my hands

Horse

Get

Down

kthnxbye.

AAAAAAAAnd the reason i post is because the vast majority of what is posted about it is totally wrong, or backwards.

The SS unit, or just an LMT unit in general?

And most of that was already corrected //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You posted so you could ***** and moan about how much you don't like it.

i'm still buying 2 rl-s 12's and slapping them in a 4th order bandpass...as far as amps..its between one orion 2500 or one autotek mm4000

i'm going to put thoses sub in different applications

not 'THE' SS unit

But one like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

then u really cant make that assumption....the prototype has alittle more throw than the rl-s...
