i dont get it. why does it require such a large box and whats more to expect from the rls. If its a sealed based sub then its a sq based sub. im interested but will the spl be to what i desire with a 15. basicly wut im asking will it get as loud as a 15xxx ported in a sealed box. its expensive but is it worth it

1. It's SVC because of the motor design. It's just not possible at this time to get a DVC for the LMT.

2. Sacrifices were made in order to get a ton of linear displacement...those sacrifices include very little BL, and a very, very high Qts. Both of these contribute to it requiring large boxes for a flat response and a lot of power to get it to full excursion.

i kno. i remember talkin to all my friends wen i had the old xxx and was like im bought to get the new xxx soon. but shiiiet i bet u its never coming. there probaly playin a joke on all of us.

Unless your box for the xxx is absolute shit...no way in hell will it be louder.

The new xxx 12 will be out late november\early december according to RE...Bigger sizes to follow after that.

I love how you're all talking about a speaker that you just obviously DO NOT understand...

The RL-S is designed to be a HT sub, not a car audio sub, with rediculous accuracy, and a **** ton of linear displacement as Jack said before.

The reason why it is SVC 3.5 ohm, which you would know if you read up on it before you bashed it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif, is because any lower ohm load coil produced unwanted effects on sound.

The RL-S is an excellent woofer, with extreme accuracy. If I was to build a HT system, you'd better beleive that I'd be using a RL-s for the lows.

And for all you guys that are just talking about it based on the things you've read (or lack thereof), I've heard this thing in person... have you?

have you?
Yeah...own one.

But you really can't expect a lot of these people to understand a motor topology like LMT, or hell even a normal motor. Let them piss and moan about 3.5 coil, its not like you can explain to them why it is that way if they don't want to learn.
