RL-p15 or 12

does anyone know how much power a rlp15 can really handel? i know they are rated at 750rms but i know the website says they been hooked to 1500 watt amps but is that rms rating or peek

rms i do believe but also know it doesnt take 2000 watts to get solid performance and it shouldnt, 2000 watts on a good set of woofers = if you get caught driving with it like that screw the noise ordinance you are being driving impaired.

yeah i see what your saying but i do plan i getting a rlp15 some time soon and the only amp i have a a mtx 1501d. and i would really hate to run that thing at 4ohms seems like a waste of power hehe. but i also dont want to spend the money for too rlps. you know what i mean?

yup but also try to understand the power curves in which it performs well. if a sub can do 80% of its full performance heck maybe even 90% at 500 watts? is it worth throwing all that power to it? alot of big woofers that can take 2000 watts basically compress A LOT of that power meaning unless you are trying to gain every .1 db for db drags its almost pointless. if your sub hits 153 db with 1200 watts is it worth getting a 3000 watt amp to get 155 db? to me you have already achieved a majority of the effect you are after and i doubt you could hear or feel that big of a difference.

Am I the only one with a logoed sub? I don't like being alone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
LOL..........nope, peter_euro over on ECA has logo'd subs I do believe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Also....you know what would be kinda neat. If you painted (or vinyl graphic or whatever) the SS logo on the cone in more of a shiny black color (rather than a red or whatnot it is now). Then, it would be more of a subtle accent, and would only really show up well when light hits the cone a certain way. I think THAT would be the sexy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif It would look basically like a flat black cone, but every so often have the illusion of having a shadowed logo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif I dunno....I think it would be cool.........

Squeak you know what, that was my initial plan, to have the logo done in a gloss black over the matte black finish of the cone. However during the preliminary phases it was ultimately decided that you really couldn't even see the dÄmn thing unless you looked at it just right and figured that if I were going that route, I may as well not put a logo on at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I don't know if you've seen some of eD's silverish coned woofers with the off-white/silver 'elemental designs' text on them, but I was at TC when a host of those were being built and though the idea is prime, they were just too hard to read and I didn't want to be disappointed with how my printing came out. The logo I am using is printed in a copper tone, only 1.6 x 2" in size. I think it compliments the black aesthetics of the woofer well, and is small enough as not to be intrusive, yet still makes for some great pr0n during excursion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Now about the power handling issue that everyone is curious about, these drivers are capable of quite a bit of beef when it comes to the electron flow.. how much? Well that all depends on the user's listening habits (daily vs competition vs extreme) as well as the proposed enclosure. In general, the RL-i line will perform optimally with anywhere between 175-500wrms and the RL-p line will perform optimally with anywhere between 300-1000wrms. Can they handle more? In short, yes, but I would ask that you email us before trying to do so, so that we can make sure your enclosure is of the proper size and construction in order to avoid any potential failure.
