risky wiring?

ok so i was clamping my amp today {creshendo bc 5500} and it turns out i have a 4.7 times impediance rise....i have 2 dual 1 subs so im wired to 1 rising too....well you gueesed it 4.7 ohms so since my rise is 4.7 maybe ill wire to .25 and rise to 1.175 ohms and get this amp to come alive were it does its rated power at 1 ohm!!!!! whats your alls oppinoin? go or no go?

your rise will vary drastically on music... on a single tone, it remains somewhat constant, but on music, it can vary alot... so while you were seeing that high of a rise on tone, it could be very dangerous to wire that low on music.... crescendos are built really well... but, without the proper overkill on electrical, you could easily fry the amp.

bottom line i'm trying to make, is if you need to ask this question, wiring that low might not be the best idea... i would take another look at your box... work on it's efficiency... that will help you cut down on rise, and pull more out of your amp

I know of a few that run theres .5daily and like said above your rise will rise depending on alot of things but rest assured if u wire to .25ohm you will rise a min of .5ohm which would drop u right around .75ohm at a min... Go for it..

i have 2 dual 4 subs with all 4 coils in parallel, which ends up being 1 ohm, right? Well, the impedance looks like such:

as you can see, it remains above 2 ohms for most of the frequency range......but take this as you will.

edit: this is at rest, i'm sure when the VC's heat up it's higher.

i was reading a post that jacob from sundown put up a while ago (on ssa i believe) where he went into detail why not to rely on imp rise in daily setups.

one of the things he brought up is that with the multiple frequencies playing at the same time in music, there can also be imp drop as drastic as the rise is. which when wired low spells damage when amps get close to dead short range.

i wish i could find the post again. i may have to do some searching.

^^ thats one way to go but why not just drop it down and give it a go... That want cost u a penny assuming u got the electrical to supoort such power then I cant imagine you would have any sort of problem. Cant promise you that but at worst what ur amp goes into protect then guess what time for a recone..

Tru Tru. But as long as u keep the voltage up and not let that be the reason the amp goes into protect then I dnt see your amp going up in smoke.. Can it maybe will it no one really knows for sure. Do what makes u feel good inside bro..
