RIP SnoopDan

He was just keepin it real bro. Gotta have some checks and balances to the mods right?
lol, so I guess when you call a mod out over here it's frowned upon and you get permabanned. Stupid
Can't even undermine the mods in the dome
Checks and balances is one thing, what dan has attempted to do for months on end is another.

The fact that this and other threads are left open should be enough evidence to anyone here without an axe to grind to realize that we mods do our best to allow the members to express their opinions, even if they are negative. Try going to any other major car audio site and see if you get away with half as much criticism of the mods or rules as you do here, and see what happens. Nuff said.

As for the implication that dan was perma banned for calling out one mod here, incorrect. What dan ultimately did was claim that all mods here are untrustworthy based on the actions of one single mod. Add to that the months of him trying to undermine the mods, and this site as a whole, since he was passed over as a mod, and the decision became clear. One of the responsibilities of the mods here is to maintain order. The MoT situation is unfortunate, but an isolated incident. Dan attempted to use that situation to undermine every and all mods here, and the site in general, for his own personal animosity. Even that would have been accepted if he had not been warned, numerous times in the past, that similar attempts by him were not acceptable. In short, dan was an oldschool member here who, given that, was given way more leniency than other members have been given. he took that leniency to a degree that became completely unacceptable, and got himself banned. I made numerous attempts to discuss this with him on a personal level and alter his attitude/motives, with no positive results.

Question the rules here all you want, even question the mods. I personally see our acceptance of criticism as a "checks and balances" of our rules, policies and mods. But once it becomes clear a member's motive is not genuine, but merely a personal vendetta to hurt the site and/or its community, its a mod's responsibility to fix that problem. Dan made it clear that reasoning would not work with him, and leniency would only be met with advantages being taken. Very few other member's bannings were discussed as much as dan's was (in the moderator back room), but after that discussion, and dan pushing his leniency to limits that could not be tolerated, he was removed from the site. If you, or anyone else, wants to view that ban as the mods hiding anything, I take that as a bias against reason, pure and simple.

My evidence? The fact that your comments in this thread have not been removed, but instead are met with this response to explain why you are wrong. Again go to any other major car audio site and see if you get away with such comments. Rather than being quoted and discussed, as Im doing here, they would merely be deleted and you would be banned. Frankly, some of you clearly have no idea how much freedom of expression ca.com, and its mod staff, allow you here.

Snoopdan may have deserved his ban, (I dont know or really care) but his rantings were sometimes pretty comical.

That being said, i think the mods may be going a bit overboard on the "trolling outside the dome" thing.

I'd like to call everyones attention to the sticky in the subwoofer section."Read this first" it pretty much says if you ask a dumb question you will get publicly ridiculed and in some cases your dumb thread will be deleted. It gives reference to "which is the best sub". I see threads like this all the time, and when someone dogs on the op, it's "keep the trolling to the dome".

Please dont ban me, I'm just sayin.

I liked him sometimes, but what I noticed mostly was his bitching and complaining about stupid shit. always going back in time to refference "the good ol days", I have noticed people have been mentioning "the good ol days" since I joined in 08, nothing ever comes to pass. just the same ol shit. Someone else will take his place. Same ol shit, same questions

Really? I didnt see him post a single piece of helpful information since Ive been here. Almost every post he had was contained to the Dome and didnt offer any advice.
Me either I had nothing against him but he would troll people asking questions for help a lot seems someone with all that knowledge would wanna help

In the brief time I've been lurking here I've noticed a few trends. At first I thought the thunderdome was an anything goes section. Now I see people getting banned because they posted their opinions in the section reserved for posting opinions. The mods can say what they want to try to justify their actions, but their feelings were hurt and they didn't cite any rules violations in their bannings. So after reading his post I looked up audioholic's posts from the past. He has a history of taking things way too seriously on the internet and flexing the muscle he was given. This is not the first time he has banned someone for actions in the dome or backed the banning of someone for their actions in the dome.

I am sort of laughing at the justifications. "try to insult a mod on another forum and see how long you last". What he is saying is that it doesn't matter how wrong what he did was. What matters is that as long as these mods attempt to behave a bit less oppressive than other forums, the majority of the members will stay here vs going elsewhere. I'm questioning if that's actually true or just his self evaluation. It seems off the mark to me.

This whole thing is laughable.

Whats laughable is your logic. First and foremost if we were banning people for questioning authority this very thread for you to post in wouldnt exist and neither would any of the members. Secondly you ignore the fact that he was given atleast a dozen chances without repercussion to follow the rules. Fact of the matter is he pushed the envelope on rules we asked him to abide by and he did not. The point AH is making is that the members here are given alot of leniency compared to other forums. We simply ask our members to follow a few very simple rules: Dont troll outside the Dome (Snoop did on a regular basis), no racist terms, no ******/partial ******, no threats. Thats pretty much the extent of it. If you cant follow those go find a new place on the net to hang out.

In reality, they don't have to offer the dome. What people get away with here, compared to other sites is quite a bit. Being a mod bites. You can't please everyone, but you can please the majority. Just like politics.

Most of the people who complain about how the site is run do not actually do anything to help people. They are dome riders. They try to hock their crap in the fs section, and are mad cause they have nothing else to offer and are contained to the dome. They want to be able to flog the entire site with their useless blabber.

I didn't mind Snoop before, but as of late, he has become rather annoying with posting the same junk over and over and over and over.......it is a little tiring to see that. He obviously cannot take a hint, as he was given many. Oh well.
