[QUOTE="audioholic, post: 7949942, member: 549629"] Checks and balances is one thing, what dan has attempted to do for months on end is another. The fact that this and other threads are left open should be enough evidence to anyone here without an axe to grind to realize that we mods do our best to allow the members to express their opinions, even if they are negative. Try going to any other major car audio site and see if you get away with half as much criticism of the mods or rules as you do here, and see what happens. Nuff said. As for the implication that dan was perma banned for calling out one mod here, incorrect. What dan ultimately did was claim that all mods here are untrustworthy based on the actions of one single mod. Add to that the months of him trying to undermine the mods, and this site as a whole, since he was passed over as a mod, and the decision became clear. One of the responsibilities of the mods here is to maintain order. The MoT situation is unfortunate, but an isolated incident. Dan attempted to use that situation to undermine every and all mods here, and the site in general, for his own personal animosity. Even that would have been accepted if he had not been warned, numerous times in the past, that similar attempts by him were not acceptable. In short, dan was an oldschool member here who, given that, was given way more leniency than other members have been given. he took that leniency to a degree that became completely unacceptable, and got himself banned. I made numerous attempts to discuss this with him on a personal level and alter his attitude/motives, with no positive results. Question the rules here all you want, even question the mods. I personally see our acceptance of criticism as a "checks and balances" of our rules, policies and mods. But once it becomes clear a member's motive is not genuine, but merely a personal vendetta to hurt the site and/or its community, its a mod's responsibility to fix that problem. Dan made it clear that reasoning would not work with him, and leniency would only be met with advantages being taken. Very few other member's bannings were discussed as much as dan's was (in the moderator back room), but after that discussion, and dan pushing his leniency to limits that could not be tolerated, he was removed from the site. The fact that your comments in this thread have not been removed, but instead are met with this response to explain why you are wrong. Again go to any other major car audio site and see if you get away with such comments. Rather than being quoted and discussed, as Im doing here, they would merely be deleted and you would be banned.
