Ricers... /rant

I think you just have this embedded hatred in your mind that it's only ricers that seem to speed around carelessly, it's not! It's also soccer moms with kids in their cars, old fat sweaty guys with tight suits on eating a double burger or just plain out everyday folks that just have lead foots and are impatient, etc. They'll ride your a$$ until you either turn or get pissed off and start braking.
Believe me, I hate them equally as much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well, ive had my 365 whp 397 lb ft EVO called a ricer before........it really didnt hurt my feelings, because the other guy had no idea he was about to get his *** completely spanked.

After seeing countless street racing and street class drag competitions I can see why people want to buff up their "ricers". I've seen some pretty amazing stuff against some amazing cars. 8 second 4 bangers, who would think?

Also who would think that those nasty little Civics can beat up on Vipers. Those 1000+hp Supras ain't no joke either. Those Skylines trashing american muscle right on the track. Those poor Corvette drivers beating on their steering wheels after the WRX dusted them. Lets not forget the twin turbo Mustang Cobra that gets smoked by the twin turbo Supra. It's just commonplace. Imports are fast and that's why muscle cars owners hate em so much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But it costs a great deal of money to make a 1000 hp supra, but you achieve similar results with a chevy crate motor with add-ons for much less.

Also, I don't like cars made out of plastic or fiberglass or whatever. Recycled aluminum cans and whatnot...but newer American cars have similar problems.

Thing about American classics is the simplicity. The brute strength. Not some fancy computer doing all the work for you. I am talking about manual drum brakes, carbs. I learned to drive on manual drum brakes. That means you begin slowing down way ahead of time. The problem I have with the ricer group is that they (as far as the ones I have seen) just buy shit and doesn't know how it works, how it makes their car faster, have more HP. They just trust their computer....

People are cocky on the road no matter what. Whether they try to brag about having the biggest SUV on the road or the fastest car. Also btw, it's no big deal getting good gas mileage. 6 cyl Mustangs from the 60s can get mid 30s. In my opinion the value of 350 HP exceeds the cost of gas. If you want that type of HP, you have to know that its gonna guzzle gas.

In the past 48 hours I have driven from home, to work, the missus, home again, and then to work. I was tailed TWICE. By idiot Civic drivers. Am I wrong to stereotype? Sure. Am I wrong?

...ehhhh, I would say yes, but everything I have seen only further fuels my hatred towards those whom drive the car.
I'm curious, can you honestly say you dislike me because I drive a Civic?

For the same amount of money, chevy aftermarket kills import aftermarket. Furthermore, in drag racing torque is what matters.
Sure torque is what matters. And we all know those big V8's running in all these muscle cars is where the torque is. After all, those Civics and Preludes don't have torque! In a drag how can they ever win against an old muscle car?

Well Stephan Papadakis seemed to do that with his Civic Si. 8.57 sec in the 1/4 mile @ 174mph with a Honda Prelude engine? A 4 banger? How do you get to that speed without torque, that fast?

I wonder what the guy he raced thought when he lost because he surely wasn't driving a ricer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

And that Si sure wasnt near a streetable car was it.

do they kill imports in power/weight ratio....no. what about driveability.....no. how about the slalom, what good is a car that can do 12-13 second quarter mile, but can't stop or take curve's more than 20 mph?? what do most muscle car's get per gallon of fuel?? 6-8?? the 70's are over, and imports now dominate the streets as well as the track.

ridiculous. want to try and dominate my domestic with that crx hoss? whos saying fast domestics all have to be from the 60s and 70s. my car is an 87. over 400 horsepower at the wheels, 440 lb ft of torque. 12.6 quarter mile on street tires and motor, 11.4 on spray. daily driven. 20 mpg. very streetable. likely turns a lot more heads and gets a lot more compliments than your civic. have raced about 30 ricers, most of them thought they were faster than shit, all but one got stomped. never had to use the nitrous in a street race, except against my neighbors viper. now whos dominating me? i dont know what i would do the slalom in but it wouldnt be shabby at all. and i stop on a dime, believe me. this whole "rice burners own all" AND the "domestic own all" attitude is just assinine. you can make any car fast, a freakin daihatsu if you want. you can make any car lighter or handle better. you're going to sit there and say that 60s and 70s muscle cars can't compare to imports. how about in the sound of the motor? how about the *** appeal? appreciation? (in both forms of the word) power to weight depends on which cars you're talking about, but there were more than a few that came stock with over 400 horsepower, and a couple with over 500. you can take a bone stock ZL1 camaro, ran a low 13 1/4 back in the day because of the tires. slap some sticky modern meats on it, and you're running mid-high 11's with no other mods. think im bullshitting, research it. cars are just as individual as people are, and no certain type of car can "own" another because a car is whatever you make it.

and to whoever say that about the 8.5 second DAILY DRIVEN civic. BULLSHIT.

I hate to say this, but...

People are different.

Ergo, people's cars are different.

I respect someone that has a beast for the quarter mile, and I also respect someone that has a vehicle that is at home on the autocross and can turn on a dime. Saying one's better than the other is pointless and gets you nowhere...because in the end, it boils down to their personal preference.

Do it right, and I respect imports as well as domestics. Do it wrong, and I'll laugh at you no matter what you drive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

torque isnt everything. horsepower is just torque with rpm factored in. which is why supras that rev to 9k can have 900 hp and 500 lb ft of torque. however, take 2 equal cars, one with 300 hp and 200 lb ft, other with 200 hp and 300 lb ft and the 200hp/300lb ft one will walk all over it.

and dollar for dollar, yes, chevy aftermarket pwns import
