I just rewired my lanzer vibe 268 to a pair of 15" L5's and it's so loud right now that I can't even turn my volume up half way because the bass makes my cd skip. The amp didn't get hot as usual but I have it wired at 1ohm and the amp is only 2ohm stable does anyone think that my amp will overheat or shut down? Also my battery meter is now stable above 14volts when the amp is wired this was.

even if the gain level is turned down?
Nope not even if...

If you were to wire it @ 1 ohm and turn the gain down, You might as well run it @ 2 ohms and get the same amount of power and you would not risk frying it. Trust me it is not worth frying your hard earned money on a few weeks of extra bumping. But that is entirely your call. I'm just letting you know the consequences.

It's not safe to run for an extended period of time @ 1ohm. Sure it is louder but you may end up blowing the amp.
I'm not sure about his particular amp, but some manufacturers produce 1 ohm stable amps....I guess they are all liars?

He was only talking about this particular amp numbnuts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I haven't had the amp protection light come on yet either and it hasn't shut off...at first I couldn't turn it up past half because the bass would make my cd skip but after I turned the gain down everthing is ok I turned the volume up and everthing....final the amp got hot but still no protection light... I called some of the pro's that install and one guy said that I could blow the subs like that and another guy say that the subs wouldn't blow because of the power they can handle and he also said that if the set up was a problem then the protection light would come on and shut the amp down also before any damage would happen.

Easy on the n00bs, there, pardner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I save that kind of retort for people that should know better, like a sizable portion of this site //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

He didn't specify which amp, it sounded like he was just in general saying its bad to run at 1ohm. Thanks for all the mature commentary though. This site really has gone to shit. See ya.
