Okay, let me start off by saying I'm not new to the online trading thing (Heatware: NickS) and I found this forum trying to sell this older (competition?) audio setup I have acquired through purchasing this car (1995 GTI VR6).

From what I understand, it's "the cats ***" but I want something that will play MP3's and read a USB thumb drive - not pump SPL's. Apparently this was Alpines flagship setup in the late 1990's (1999?) and most stuff today doesn't hold a candle to it.

What is included is an Alpine CDA-7949E headunit (pre-amp only from what I've read) with a 12 Disk Alpine CD Changer (CHA-1214) and a PXA-H600 Digital Phase Processor with the remote-mounted EQ (control panel) for it, as well as the stock remote for the system. Everything works except the CD player in the headunit itself - but I've only tried burned CD's in it. Changer works great with burned CD's. Headunit goes VERY loud.

It will come with all those parts plus all of the Ai-Net cables I pull out of the car when I'm removing all of this stuff, plus the toslink cable from the CD Changer to the digital phase processor. Everything works excellent, but I just want to -modernize-. If you want SPL's I guess this is the setup for you!

I only have a small clue on what this stuff is worth - I've seen the H/U alone go for $150 ish so PM me some offers and I'll see what I get ... unless someone can talk me into keeping it all and retrofitting an Aux in via RCA cables, because as of now I plan on just replacing it with a $130 Pioneer H/U lol

$65 Shipped OBO

EDIT: I went to tear it out of the car today, and with the way everything was wired in (Phase Processor, EQ, etc) it was near impossible to get it out without undoing all of my interior panels so I said screw it and cut the wires. Now, up for sale, is the headunit, remote and changer. $65 shipped or best offer takes them both. Sorry fellas, I just didn't want to have to tear into everything like that.

Any other offers? Just trying to get an idea of what this setup is actually worth and if I should spend all the time ripping it out or not.

I also have a set of MK3 kickpanels for speakers and a tweeter for the front I can toss in for $100 w/speakers & tweeters installed

EDIT: nvm, still on the rocks about keeping these

Any indication that a loose wire may be the issue? I'd start by checking all the +/- connections to see if one has come lose or is starting to...

Umm the sub outputs. It's brand spanking new with an install booklet etc.

Giving subs more power really wakes them up. The MRP-500 is pretty low power. You would really notice more authority in your bass.
