I'm reading this article now that is saying that GM is going apeshit over the Volt. From what the article is saying they are pretty much going for broke, because right now they have a empty car designed because they don't even have the technology for it yet. They JUST made the actual battery.

Meaning they are hoping they can rebuild the chevy name, sell more chevy's, and save their *** as an entire company.

Supposedly they are making many promises about this. That's why i say bust or brilliance, because supposedly:

• Starts at 40,000 are lower
  
• Gets 150 MPG, can go up to 40 miles on no gas
  
• Battery will last around 10 years (supposedly)
  

But Lauckner, always pushing, insisted on a car that the public would perceive not just as saving gasoline (that was Prius territory) but as replacing gasoline.

so basically, it's supposed to be the dream car that will get America off Gasoline.

Outflanking Toyota makes good sense strategically, but GM’s market capitalization is less than a tenth of Toyota’s. Unless battery costs fall as quickly as GM hopes, the car could break the bank by succeeding.

well, supposedly there was a oriental man who made some super batteries.....he started out making them for his kids toys...thought he would get a couple more months out of them...turns out they were lasting like 2 and 3 yrs longer. So now if my memory serves me correctly, he's now making them for the US army or something.

The batteries are being developed in Asia anyways. They'd still have us by the balls.

Subs and Hoes have always been nice.

I think they have improved their cars though..

I'd say they've got about 3-5 years to straighten themselves out given their weak cash flow and poor earnings. They have good management now but the fuking unioin and pensioneers are bleeding them dry.

The union isn't bleeding them dry. The union has given up a lot.

Its another ill designed car that bases its styling from the windshield forward on their SUV's and trucks.

The grille is a shrunken clone of any recent Silverado.

I like cars, if I wanted to buy a truck I wouldnt be buying a car.
