Resistive (RMS) Power?

Just wondering what RESISTIVE (RMS) POWER means.

my amp lists Resistive (RMS) Power which is 1150 @ 13.8

Is this different than RMS? It also list Sine-Wave rms which is 1600 @ 13.8 (which i'm assuming they are using a 40hz sine-wave (tone) to get that number.

don't assume what hz. many times, they will use a much higher frequency to get it. = "Root Mean Square", not resistive.... basically, the maximum average un-clipped output of the "root" signal. they are supposed to take the output of different signals at their highest undistorted level and square them, then average them, and the square root of that is the "RMS" a sine wave is more efficient, since there is greater dead time than a constantly variable wave, so there is more available power to emit reliably. a square wave would be even more efficient, yet it may slope or crest, depending on different variables of the amp, which would count as distortion, though there is more real continuous power to be had..... i actually got a nice continuous 600+ out of a cadence 400.1. in short, it says you get 1150 on music, and 1600 for burping.

Resistive power doesn't mean much, other than a resistive load is used during the measurement. And there's no reason why sine wave power would be any different, since a sine wave would be used to make both tests. Unless it was a short burst compared to a continuous measurement.

Kinda sounds like a "specsmanship" thing... I wonder what the marketing guy would tell ya..
