reset gains when changing ohm load?

i just purchased another L7, should be here on friday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif , but when i hook it up the ohm level will drop from 2 to 1 , should the gains be reset? i mean gains are only a way for the amp to match the pre-out voltage of the headunit right ,so once the gains are set it dosent matter what ohm load its at should it? or am i just completly wrong ...

It depends on the amp. In a perfect world you wouldn't have to change the gain. In the real world you will sometimes have to turn it down because the amp will lower the rail voltage and thus the voltage that the amp will clip will decrease. To compensate for that you need to lower the gain.
