today i reset my gains to accomadate my new alt. i set the gain to 80 Volts on my Colossus II and set the LPF(35hz- 250hz) at about a quarter of the way since it was almost all the way up when i had the amp putting out 1500 watts. THe amp should be putting out 3200 watts since it's constantly getting at least 12 volts, but it doesnt seem much mlouder than when it was only 1500. could it be that the LPF is set too low? is it okay to hear some of the music/words coming through the subs?

depending on the slope of your crossover you might hear faint voice. i take it you are running the amp at 1ohm? try playing with the LPF when you have it playing and see where you like it. ususally around 80hz is good.

its running at 2 ohms. i'll have to re-check the lpf then. should i set the gain last, after i set the LPF,SSF,BASS EQ on the amp or first?

You could be running into power compression ... Also, the gain setting tutorial is more about setting it up so you don't blow your stuff up. In many cases, you won't actually get the full potential from the amplifier ... Use the -3 dB test tones provided in the tutorial instead of 0 dB.
wont that clip? the subs are 2 15l7s. and they're rated 1000 rms but they can take more

Music almost never gets to 0dB. -3dB will allow you to get 2x the actual power from the amp with music.
And, yes, I was saying not to use the bass EQ. If you want more bass, turn up the gain. Same effect, more predictable result.
what about -6db will that also put out more power? how severe will the clipping be if i set it with -3db and -6db tones?

so i should be good with lpf at 100hz and ssf at 26hz? so should i use the -3db tone or -6db tone? i just wanna make sure, i want to get the most power out of the amp. should the tone be the same as box tuning or 60hz?
