my local kicker dealer here wants $100 for kicker comp 10's and wont be talked down.

They think a soloX 18 is worth $1200

Well, for one, a B&Ms overhead is alot higher than a internet wholesalers. I have to pay for a building with a showroom, install bays, salesman, installers, upkeep to make everything presentable, insurance, the list goes on and on. These are things internet wholesalers dont have to worry about(not anywere near the extent anyway). That is the reason prices are higher, it is not because we are trying to rip off people, we have to turn a profit to stay open and make a living.

Its why people come to me to install their stuff on the side because they charge outragous prices. The only competition they have is a store that basically says if you dont run JL you arent loud. They tired to feed me some BS that a w7 12 on a 500/1 would be louder than my 18.

They likely charge what you call Outragous prices because the shop has to pay for installers and a well equipped shop. Most people who install on the side dont have to worry about things like insurance, installers, and rent. It takes a while to do things right, and time is money when you have people on the clock.

I already do installs and build on the side. I dont have the time/money/resources to open a true audioshop.

I will tell you this, everyone who has came to me after being unsatsified with the local audio shops has been 10x happier. If i could i would but right now an education is more important //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I think you need to take what I said and put it to use. Getting an education is more important than starting an audioshop to end a monopoly in a shit hole town.

Perhaps you should charge more

I have been, I just dont want to get too expensive. I was working for $10/hr + Materials. Now I do $15/hr + 5% mark up.
