Repub debates tonight, Paul slammed

Also, I think it's natural for the media and for opposing politicians to harp on how "bad" things are...the reality is that problems in North America are minute and can mostly be attributed to personal choices made by people every day....not to be blamed on the government because the people have a tendency to be idiots.

I concur.

People are just following what the media tells them to....that's exactly why Obama turned in a good performance in NH...it had nothing to do with what his or Hillary's policies were or something they said...it was the media riding the Obama train and citizens going along for the ride.
Are you even paying attention?

Everyone in the media predicted a huge victory for Obama in NH, a double digit win, but in reality he lost.

Hah, I am just messsing wicha.
You support school vouchers?

I am a registered democrat, but I am thinking of voting republican. Although I am socially liberal, I think the current candidates are going too far. I find myself aligning with more of the more moderate republicans.

In reality, he tied...he and Hillary both won 9 delegates, if I remember correctly, although Hillary was able to get the popular vote in the state.

I mean that prior to the Iowa caucus, Hillary was up by 9 points in NH...and 2 days after the vote where Obama won and the media went nuts about how he was leading change and upsetting Hillary, the votes switched around and suddenly Obama was on top in NH (on average, a 7 point lead but in some polls as much as 11 points).

And then the media goes crazy about how Hillary "choked up" a day or two before NH primary and suddenly she's got all her female votes back.

The whole election, particularly on the Democrat side, is being guided by the media.

When I have listened to some of paul's speeches it seems like he goes a step further and he wants the schools to be like business's and compete with one another.

If he wants less gov't why is he wanting to involve more government in choice of schooling...

the polls actually said he would win 35-36% ( may be wrong on that exact percent ) and that is what he won, what they didn't realize was all the independants woudl vote for hilary and many of the edwards supporters would go with hilary

I really have not studied it so I can't say. I don't suppose there are any states that hav tried this given the ties to federal funding. I would rather see it tried in a state that does not matter, like Michigan, first.

That is the point of school vouchers. We (those who support vouchers) want schools to compete.

For instance, my county is an open zone and the schools compete over students....to a small degree. Those with higher intellectual aptitude go to a school who places more attention on a more difficult regimen. Those with more atheletic ability attend another school. I think those are good things.

What is problematic is that if you are poor, you can't travel to the school of your choice, you must go to the school assigned. If you want to go to a school that better fits your needs, you have to supply your own transportation. It is my hope that these schools would faciliate the transportation. I haven't seen a way that would work on a large scale though.

the media just reports on the polling.

Why does school have to be regulated by the federal government if school vouchers are used? It should be left at the State levels...that's the big point Ron Paul has been pushing.

Get the federal government uninvolved with things like that and let the State manage things like school vouchers and whatnot.

There are small districts that have tried with mixed results. School vouchers doesn't help children of single parents who work two jobs. School vouchers do help middle class kids get out of schools with students with much violence.
