I love Tokays. They'll bark at you then bite the crap out of you.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

gotta adult male ball a 1 1/2 year old female,an adult rose hair, a black widow, and a pair of savannahs bout 10 inches long ima probably trade to the pet store down the street for a b&w argentine tegu, in about 6 months when i get my own place ima start a collection of hots(poisonous snakes). probably start it off with a pair of rattlers, desert horned viper, or rhino viper.

I have a Ball Python who's fickle for some reason.

A lot of times, he won't eat. As such, he's really skinny. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

(He's been like that his whole life. I've had him for nearly 2 years now. he's only about 2-1/2 feet, if that.)

Venomous.... Do you have any training with hots? I'm about 200 hours away from my 1000 apprenticeship hours. Once I move out my buddy from Chicago is coming down and we're setting up a breeding facility.

What do you feed him now? Right now he could be fasting because it's getting cooler out.

All mine are fine. All the females are cooling down, and fattening up for breeding. going to start introducing males around December.

My brother used to have a Savannah monitor and a tegu monitor. The tegu was a vicious bastage. 5 foot long and would run you down and bite the crap out you.

The savannah wasn't much better but he only bit when you messed with him. He bit like a pitbull though and wouldn't let go till he felt like it.

Unless you've got 20 to 30 grand to pay for antivenin in case of a bite you should reconsider venomous species.

im pretty much never gonna let them get close enough to get me. just gonna let them stay in the tank all the time. i figure its kinda like dealing with my old amazon tree boas except hots.

Ball pythons are famous for that. I've had success before dipping the mouse or rat in egg before offering it. Poking a hole in the head so some of the brain matter starts coming out also helps sometimes with picky eaters.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So is your beardie ok?

shes doing fine.

went to the vet , and her coccidia level was up and i was given some meds to give her. went through that and she seems to be doing better. still not eating much at all , but i think she may be brumiating (sp?) since shes still keeping her weight up. we thought she was 11 months or so , but the way shes acting she may be older.

shes actually going with us on a vacation up to NC , so that should be interesting , lol.

Just don't feed it a Gerbil, unless it absolutely won't eat... It will get imprinted on only Gerbils for a long time. I had a captive hatched female Pastel that would only eat african sof fur rats... That was a true pain in the ***.

LOL

With that outlook on it, stay away from venomous snakes. How do you expect to change water, or feed them, or clean the cages?

Do you have any training, or even been personally near a hot? I don't know where you live, but I'm pretty sure your state has a law and certain requirements and guide lines for legally keeping venomous snakes. Like, in florida, any room with venomous snakes in it, has to have a lock on the cage, and a lock on the door.

And no, nothing like ATB's. I've had them, they can be nasty, but they don't strike and lunge at you every second. I've even had a wild caught Green Tree Python, and I was still able to pull him off his perch while cleaning the tank.

I know its alot different than atb's i was just giving a slight comparison of the habbits and attention needed. im not gonna be some dick and just go in there all irwin style and grab them with my hands. of course i have to take them out to clean and everything, i was refering to the time other than that.

the laws i dont know. i do know i can have them though. as far as locks go yeah i was plannin on having a locked room for my herps with lock on every cage just incase a drunk friend decides it would be cool to pet the hots.
